It’s Barleywine time at East End Brewing!
The brewery’s release of Gratitude 2018, their annual Barleywine brew, is set for Saturday, March 23.
Since opening in 2004, East End Brewing has brewed the same Barleywine recipe as a thank you to their loyal customers. Known as one of the brewery’s best-known products, the annual release is always a big deal in the Pittsburgh beer scene, as collectors and beer fans line up to collect a complete color-coded collection of the bottles.
This year, in addition to the release at the brewery’s Julius Street brewpub, they’ll also be hosting a preview party at Independent Brewing Company on Monday, March 18. At the release party, you’ll find samples of rare vintages, and bourbon-barrel aged variants, and you’ll have a chance to the brew masters about the Barleywine, and other East End releases.
At the release day on March 23, East End will offer three forms of this year’s Gratitude, starting at 10:00 a.m. Bourbon Barrel-Aged Gratitude will be available in 16 oz. cans, “Regular” Gratitude will be available in blue-waxed 22 oz. bottles and Old School paper-overwrapped 750ml bottles. Also available will be a limited amount of “Stacked Vertical Packs,” comprising of three-year, four-year, or five-year varieties for a special price.
The release party will also feature handmade Barleywine Pretzels, hand pies, sandwiches, and baked goods from Prohibition Pastries, and a pop-up art show from artist Mary Tremonte.
