As we reported in our ‘Coming Soon’ guide to soon-to-open restaurants in Pittsburgh, Superior Motors is getting ready to open its doors. And now, they’ve set an opening date.
Gretchen McKay of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Kevin Sousa’s highly-anticipated Braddock restaurant will officially open to the public on Wednesday, July 12, after a week of soft-open service to friends and family.
Superior Motors has been on Pittsburgh’s radar since its super-successful 2014 Kickstarter campaign, which raised $310,225, the highest amount a restaurant project has made on the fundraising platform to date. But, as outlined in a lengthy piece that was recently published on Eater, the past three years have been fraught with major construction obstacles and unexpected expenses that have delayed the original timeline.
Both stories are worth a read, if just to learn more about the intricate web of finances, construction, and government permits that can wreak havoc on a new restaurant.
In the meantime, Superior Motors has announced on its Facebook page that it is currently offering membership for Braddock residents to enjoy the restaurant at an “exclusive preferred rate.” Sign ups for the membership cards will take place at Braddock Library on Wednesday, June 14 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The only requirement for the card is to be a Braddock resident, with photo ID or other proof or residence. More information is available on the event page.
