For the fourth year in a row, the Pittsburgh VegFest is returning to the Allegheny Commons Park on the Northside of Pittsburgh!
Hosted by local non-profit Justice for Animals, VegFest is known for bringing Pittsburghers together in the name of animal advocacy, as well as one of the largest collection of vegan food purveyors in the city.
The 4th Annual VegFest will be held on Saturday, August 4th, from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. As always, the festival is free to attend!
Each year the festival is a huge success, with thousands of visitors pouring in from all over the region. While the plethora of vegan food is a huge draw, the event also features live music all day, green living, local small business vendors, animal welfare groups, raffle prizes and goodie bag giveaways.
Vegfest is family friendly event with a bouncy house, face painting, stories for kids, arts & crafts, a climbing wall, and a glitter/henna vendor.
The event began when Justice for Animals founders Leila Sleiman and Natalie Fristick realized the absence of an event like this in Pittsburgh. Using their own experience, knowledge, and funds, they worked to pull together the first festival in 2015.
In the past, VegFest has been a great platform for vegan food businesses to test recipes, and gain a local following. Popular vegan ice cream supplier Sugar Spell Scoops debuted at VegFest 2016, and B52 Cafe tested recipes at the original VegFest before opening Lawrenceville the following year.
VegFest was awarded “Best Food Festival” 2 years in a row by Pittsburgh City Paper.
