You guys. This is big.
Rick Easton, the bakery genius who brought us Bread & Salt Bakery (and who closed it earlier this year, taking his bread-making talents to New York) is coming back to Pittsburgh. Okay, it’s for one day only, but when it comes to Easton’s baking, we’ll take what we can get.
He’s going to be at Spirit on Saturday, August 27, serving up lunch as part of their new ‘Spirit Lunch Experiments’ program.
Each week, Spirit will be featuring a local chef, “serving food they like to cook, to the city that they love,” for a popup lunch on the patio. Upcoming popups include lunches with chefs from Leena’s Food Truck, Pizza Boat, Baak Waan and Onion Maiden.
This weekend’s Bread & Salt Bakery menu will feature Pane Cuzato, Eggplant Sandwiches, Marinated Peppers, Purslane Salad and Roast Fruit with Stracciatella.
Spirit’s Leigh Yock tells us that in addition to the lunch menu, Spirit will also be serving sangria and sparkling wine drinks, hard cider, beer and cold brew coffee.
“The bar will be open, we’ll be serving cocktails, and it should be a beautiful afternoon,” Yock says.
The event is vegetarian-friendly, and family-friendly. Lunch will be served from noon to 4:00 p.m.
