One of the best rooftop bars in Pittsburgh is (almost) officially open for the season!
The Biergarten at the Hotel Monaco will open to the public on Tuesday, May 1. To celebrate the opening, they’ll be hosting a special event from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with live music from Karl Lukitash & Autobahn Trio, new German beer selections, and a brand new cocktail menu.
As in seasons past, the food menu from The Commoner chef Wyatt Lash will feature German favorites like Beer Brat, giant (and delicious) soft pretzels served with beer cheese, and a Pickle & Cheese plate, made with house pickled vegetables, a variety of cheeses, fruit butter, mustard and more. The menu will also feature savory snacks like Kielbasa, Sausage and Pierogies, and a house-made veggie sausage made with fermented vegetables.
The beer menu will feature nearly 100 beers, including local, domestic and imported brews, along with a selection of beer cocktails (including the Rosé of Beers, a popular concoction made with Miller High Life and a splash of Aperol). This season at the Biergarten will see an expanded cocktail menu, including gin & tonic and vodka soda on tap, plus a number of frozen cocktails like the Frozé, made with Zonin Rosé, coconut fat-washed Havana Club Blanco Añejo Rum, banana, Key lime and flowering mint.
And if you’re feeling particularly celebratory, you can order Larry’s Food Bowl, a cocktail that serves 2-4 people and combines cocnut vodka, cognac, roasted pineapple, Kaffir lime, vanilla bean, bitters and raspberry sour ale, and topped with fresh, edible flowers.
The opening event is all ages and open to the public.
