“Sandwich Week” has returned to the Northside of Pittsburgh and it’s time to decide who will sit on the sandwich throne!
The celebration, which is in its 8th year, will run from May 9 – 19, 2019.
Sandwich begins with the “Northside Sandwich Sampler” party on May 9 at the Priory Grand Hall. Attendees will enjoy samples from all participating restaurants, and assist in picking the Northside Sandwich Queen/King. There will also be celebrity judges, live music, and Penn Brewery beer.
The even runs from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online.
The menu for participating restaurants includes:
California Coffee Bar, Nonnie’s Broccoli Sandwich: A nice crusty Italian hoagie with steamed broccoli, olive oil, garlic, chili flakes, ricotta & ricotta salata shavings.
Fig & Ash, Pork Shank Cuban: Parma capicola, pickles, Gruyere cheese, spicy mustard, and farm bread.
Brugge on North, Pork Belly Banh Mi: Pickled watermelon radish, cilantro, mint, jalapeno slaw, sriracha soy aioli on a baguette.
Penn Brewery, Deutschtown Dip: 5-hour braised brisket, applewood smoked cheddar and horseradish sauce on a Breadworks hoagie roll. Served with au jus for dipping.
Kaffeehaus, Wurzig Putenfleish: Spicy turkey wrap with artichokes and jalapeno spread, and lettuce and tomato.
Bier’s Pub, Smoked Salmon: Pastrami style cured salmon, brie, lettuce, tomato, onions, and lemon-garlic aioli.
Max’s Allegheny Tavern, Springtime Turkey Apple Delight: Turkey breast sliced thin, smoked gouda cheese, paper thin apples & arugula drizzled with a banana pepper mustard, served on grilled Hawaiian sweet bread.
Marshall’s, Marshall’s Famous Kolbassy: House-smoked, small-batch, craft Slovenian kolbassy with sauerkraut on a roll.
Wheelhouse Restaurant at Rivers Casino, BBQ Pork Sandwich Pulled pork, cajun slaw, and ghost pepper cheese on a pretzel bun
Mayfly Market & Deli, Braised Beef Sandwich: Braised beef with pickled spring vegetables on a savory pancake.
