The James Beard Award semifinalists were announced this morning, and seven of the city’s best-loved chefs, businesses and restaurateurs have been recognized. Big names on the list include Richard DeShantz, Becca Hegarty and Jamilka Borges.

The James Beard Foundation is a New York-based foundation, that is known globally for citing and rewarding the best chefs, restaurants and food publications around the country.
A list of final nominees in all categories will be announced on Wednesday, March 27 in Houston starting at 9:00 a.m. (CST), and will be streamed live online. The winners will then be announced at the James Beard Foundation Awards Gala, taking place in Chicago on May 6.
