In this episode, Emily and Madeline talk about brunch (and why we’re not big fans), share an update on the Pittsburgh Taco Festival, and talk about online reviews, and how restaurants should handle them. Plus, Madeline tells us how to throw a ‘hot sauce tasting’ party (and Emily tries to figure out why anyone would want to do that).
Part 1
How’s this for embarrassing? Emily learned that she’s been pronouncing the name of her favorite restaurant, Il Pizzaiolo, incorrectly… for years! And she still doesn’t know how to pronounce it! Can anyone help?
Part 2
We talk all about brunch. We may not be the biggest fans, but we have to admit – there are some pretty great places in town for brunch right now. Like: Fl. 2, the Vandal, Relish, Smallman Galley, Federal Galley, or, the Whale and lots more.
Our guide to the best brunch spots in 14 Pittsburgh neighborhoods might come in handy, too!
Plus, we share some of our favorite bars and cafes to work in during the day.
Part 3Â
Two of Pittsburgh’s biggest festivals are coming back! The Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival will be back on September 23 at Kennywood, and the second Pittsburgh Taco Festival will be held at Highmark Stadium. After some problems with the festival last year (including long lines and a lack of space), Madeline tells us about speaking with the organizers of the Taco Festival about how this year’s event will be different – and we talk about why we’re so excited for it.
Part 4
We discuss this article, about a chicken pop-up in Los Angeles whose owner got into some trouble after threatening Yelp reviewers, and we talk about what’s good about online reviews… and what’s bad about them. And if you’re looking for something to do (that’s not online trolling), try these!
Part 5
The best things we ate this week include treats from Sarris Candies. Then, Madeline answers all of our questions about her recent Hot Sauce Party (!!!), and shares her love for the Secret Aardvark Habanero Hot Sauce.
