Waffles, INCaffeinated, which specializes in gourmet sweet and savory waffles, has just announced that they’re opening their fourth location, this time in Downtown Pittsburgh.
The restaurant will be opening on the ground floor of the former Macy’s/Kaufmann’s building, which is undergoing a major development by Philadelphia-based Core Realty, and will include apartments, a 160-room Even Hotel, and a number of other retailers.
Waffles, INCaffeinated owner Gordon Sheffer says that the restaurant will be located on the corner of Cherry Way and Fifth Avenue, with street access from Fifth Avenue.
“We’re very happy to be joining the downtown business district, and we’re really pleased to be working with Core Realty” Sheffer says, adding that he’s hopeful that Waffles, INCaffeinated will be the first retail operation to open in the building.
The restaurant’s menu will be consistent with the other Waffles, INCaffeinated locations (in Beaver, Wexford and on the South Side), and will include waffles, omelets, and crepes. Sheffer says that the downtown location will mean a slightly altered business model for the restaurant.
“The weekdays will be much busier than the weekends, which is the opposite of our other locations,” Sheffer says. “We really want to see how this runs for awhile, then we’ll start doing more After Breakfast items.”
Waffles, INCaffeinated’s After Breakfast program is currently available at their Beaver location, and includes extended hours, and an expanded menu of sandwiches and salads, including Design-Your-Own burger and chicken salad options, along with their full waffles menu.
Eventually, Sheffer hopes to serve Pennsylvania-originated beer, wine and liquor in a partnership with Beaver Brewing Company at the new downtown location.
The restaurant will feature about 95 seats, and will include an outdoor seating option.
Waffles, INCaffeinated is scheduled to open in April 2018.
