Pittsburgh can’t wait for the Texas-style BBQ restaurant, Spork Pit, to open on Penn Avenue in Garfield.
Luckily, Spork (the sister restaurant of Spork Pit) is hosting a Spork Pit preview this Tuesday, July 25, as part of their Sporkmade series, debuting Spork’s new onsite BBQ smoker (handmade in Texas). Tickets include an all-you-can-eat BBQ of beef brisket, turkey, sausage and ribs, and fixins.
Spork Pit is to be located on Penn Avenue, next door to Penn Aiken Dairy. The space will be an Austin-inspired barbecue joint with few frills. The barbecue pit will be visible to the public, and the front lot will feature a large deck with picnic tables. There will also be a small indoor space, which will allow the restaurant to be open year round. The menu will feature typical barbecue fare, with dishes like brisket, short ribs, turkey, homemade sausage, and pulled pork.
The Spork Pit preview will be held in partnership with Grist House Craft Brewery, who will be on site with plenty of craft beer options.
Tickets are $65 per person (including all-you-can-eat BBQ and sides, tax and gratuity, and two beer tickets from Grist House) and can be purchased online.
