At Good Food Pittsburgh, we’re always interested in getting to know some of Pittsburgh’s chefs a little better.
Currently, the way we know them best is through they food they serve to us. However, behind the delicious dishes, we know they’re just like us – Pittsburghers!
We want to know some of their favorite spots around the city. Below is our first question, “What is your favorite neighborhood in Pittsburgh?”
We would love your input on this series! What is a question you would like to ask a Pittsburgh chef? Who is a chef you’d like to be included? Leave your answer in the comments below.
What is your favorite neighborhood in Pittsburgh?
Chef Andrew Garbarino of The Twisted Frenchman and Bar Frenchman:
“East Liberty I love the restaurant scene as well as the community vibe. The non stop development is awesome to see.”
Chef Dennis Marron of Merchant Oyster Company and or, The Whale:
“I live in and have a restaurant in Lawrenceville. The community of residence, restaurants and shops is amazing. Also great beer!”
Chef Joseph Tambellini of Joseph Tambellini Restaurant:
“Highland Park, (not because that’s where my place is) I think it’s the perfect mix of Urban living with a Suburban feel. Great places to eat and cool shops. Great park close by, and a great neighborhood feeling. Highland Park is still in transition, with lots of new business moving in as well as many new young professionals choosing it as their new home.”
Chef Jessica Gibson of Altius:
“The Strip District because I love food, the shops, and the restaurants like Reynas and Chicken Latino are my absolute fav.”
Chef Brian Pekarcik of S+P Restaurant Group:
“East Liberty. When we first opened Spoon there in 2010, until now, so much has grown and changed. A large part of the community didn’t exist as it does now, so being a part of that growth has been exciting.”
Chef Derek Stevens of Union Standard:
“Crafton. It’s my home and love that it feels like a small town and is minutes to downtown, and just as easy to get out of town.”
Thanks to all of the chefs for their participation!
