Mark your calendars, because Picklesburgh is coming back!
The two-day pickle festival will be held this year on Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29.
Plans for the event are still underway, but organizers at the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership say to expect even more pickle-inspired food offerings from local restaurants (last year’s favorites included a bacon-wrapped pickle, Dill pickle ice cream and a Pickled Pepper Burger, with a side of fried pickles). Local bartenders will also be crafting cocktails that feature pickled ingredients, and beer will also be available for purchase.
Now in its third year, the popular downtown Pittsburgh festival has been a hit with attendees, with over 75,000 people attending the festival last year.
This year’s event will take place on the 6th Street (Roberto Clemente) Bridge, and will feature live entertainment, cooking and pickling demonstrations from local chefs and fermenters, and plenty of pickle-themed products to purchase.
And of course, the over-sized, 35-foot-wide Heinz pickle balloon that holds court on one end of the bridge will be back, too.
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is currently looking for vendors who wish to participate in this year’s event. Applications can be found online.
