Pear and the Pickle Cafe and Market on Troy Hill has officially been gracing the city of Pittsburgh with delicious sandwiches and Stumptown coffee for one year. To celebrate this occasion, the cafe is hosting a one year anniversary bash this Saturday, April 22.
As with any good birthday party, there will be food, drinks, and plenty of cake. The menu for the event will feature customer favorites like the Rialto sandwich (their most popular sandwich), wings (chicken & seiten), veggie sandwiches, and various bites and snacks. There will also be special party punch, wine, and beer from Roundabout Brewery.
Also, as an exciting twist, one lucky party-goer will win the “Golden Ticket,” and will receive a 16 oz. cup of Stumptown house brewed coffee, per day, for one year – yes, a year of free coffee!
Owners Alexis Tragos and Bobby Stockard, who moved to Pittsburgh from Brooklyn in 2011, are excited to celebrate with the Pittsburgh community that has welcomed them – and enjoyed their tasty breakfast sandwiches – for the past year.
“When we set out on this journey, community was our number one priority, and we’re so proud that we did not lose sight of that commitment,” says Tragos. “Our Troy Hill neighbors, and the larger Pittsburgh community embraced us from the start and we would not be where we are without them.”
In addition to celebrating one year of being open, Tragos and Stockard are also celebrating the first birthday of their identical twin boys, who were born the same week that the cafe opened.
The Pear and the Pickle, which is open Tuesday through Sunday for breakfast and lunch, is known for their salads, baked goods, and bodega-style egg sandwiches. The cafe also hosts frequent “Saturday Suppers,” where they invite the community in for the community in for family-style meals. These dinners have been a huge success, and in response, the Pear and the Pickle is looking to launch more pop-ups in the upcoming months, like burger nights in May with fresh-cut fries, and hand-spun strawberry milkshakes.
Tickets for the event are $30 and can purchased online.
