Downtown diners, rejoice!
Now open on Forbes Avenue Downtown is the Forbes Tavern, a brand-new pub from the team behind Lot 17 in Bloomfield.
Located in the space formerly occupied by the Courthouse Tavern (and the Wagon Wheel, before that), the Forbes Tavern serves a menu of classic, American dishes for lunch and dinner daily.
Though classic, the menu also highlights a fusion of flavors from around the world. Chef Cort McCordy previously worked at Gaucho Parrilla Argentina, and spent time cooking in both Peru and Cuba. McCordy is channeling these experiences into the menu at the Forbes Tavern.
“We are doing burgers, salads, sandwiches, but everything has a twist,” says owner John Leventis. “Cort uses flavor in everything he does.”
Guests can expects dishes like the Prime Rib Sandwich, Banana Cream Pie, and, of course, McCordy’s Cubano sandwich. Similar to Lot 17, everything on the menu will be made from scratch, with an emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients.
Located across the street form the new PNC tower in the heart of Downtown, the Forbes Tavern is a great lunchtime destination.
“It’s excited to get downtown,” says Leventis. “We want to do lunch and cultivate a neighborhood bar.”
