Television host and cookbook author Adam Richman was on hand today to celebrate the opening of GetGo’s new Edgewood location at 1599 S. Braddock Avenue.
The shop boasts a full kitchen that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night offerings, from fried chicken sandwiches, burgers and subs to smoothies and milkshakes. Special menu items include Mac & Cheese bites, a ‘Buffaloaded’ sub with Buffalo dip and fried chicken on Ranch bread, and Oreo churros.
New menu additions will be introduced seasonally, like a Chips & Dip chicken sandwich loaded with French onion dip in May, and a full summer of BBQ sandwich favorites, including the Road Hog sandwich made with BBQ rib meat that will make its first appearance in June. And the cafe’s ever-popular ‘The General’ sub (made with General Tso’s chicken and topped with fried egg rolls) is slated to return for a limited time in September.
GetGo has also recently introduced a mobile app, which allows guests to order and pay for purchases before entering the store.
At the grand opening event, Richman spoke about growing up in New York City with a public school teacher mother, and her struggle stretch her monthly budget to keep healthy and well-prepared food on the table. Richman said that he valued his partnership with GetGo because of the fast-casual restaurant’s commitment to providing quality, professionally-prepared food at an accessible price.
The event also featured a 12-foot sub, and a sandwich-making competition between the Swissvale Police Department and the Edgewood Police Department.
Additionally, from now through Sunday, 10% of all in-store sales will be donated to the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.
