After a brief hiatus, we’re back! On the pod today, Emily and Madeline talk about what’s ahead in the Pittsburgh food world in 2019 (and what restaurants we can’t wait to open!), plus our food resolutions, how to have the best Valentine’s Day ever, and we take a deep dive into why Madeline is so upset about the Waterworks and Fox Chapel Plaza. Plus, we share some BIG news…. a brand-new chocolate collaboration with a519 Chocolate!
Part 1
We talk about Big Burrito’s newest restaurant Alta Via, and why there was a big outcry after we published this article. Madeleine defends herself against accusations that she doesn’t know the Water Works… and Emily thinks the entire controversy is hilarious.
Part 2
We’re looking forward to lots of new restaurants opening in the coming months, including Richard DeShantz’s Coop de Ville in the Strip District, and Gi-Gin, coming downtown. Plus, we talk about Bridges & Bourbon and their current Indigogo campaign, and the noise levels in restaurants – and why they NEED TO BE MORE QUIET.
We’re also looking forward to reading more this year, and share a few of our favorite books from 2018. Madeline loved Zarafa and The Old Patagonia Express, and Emily loved Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in Silicon Valley, and Generation Chef. Read them and let us know what you think!
Part 3
It’s almost Valentine’s Day… that means it’s time to start planning. Emily’s perfect date night includes a tour of East Liberty, and Madeline suggests a road trip for sweethearts. And, we announce that we’re collaboration with Millvale’s a519 Chocolate for a super-special Valentine’s Day chocolate box!
Part 4
The best things that we ate include something sweet from Batter & Dough Baking Company in Bridgeville, and Jean Marc Chatellier’s French Bakery.
