The signs for Choolaah Indian BBQ have been up tantalizing passersby on Center Avenue in East Liberty for months. After months of anticipation, the wait for fresh and fast chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, tandoori wraps, and their signature “Choolaah salad” is almost over.
Earlier this month the company announced on social media that they plan to open their East Liberty location on January 26, 2018.
This will be the fifth location for the fast casual chain, which has other locations in King of Prussia, PA, Sterling, VA, Fairfax, VA, and Cleveland, OH.
Choolaah takes ancient clay cooking methods and combine them with a modern commitment to good health. They cook their items in custom tandoor clay ovens, with a temperature that can soar above 400° F. On their website the company shares that their food, “comes from our own family recipes and centuries-old Indian kitchens. But we make it amazingly fresh and delightfully modern.”
