Big news for outdoor drinking!
The Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh (620 William Penn Place) has just announced plans to open the Biergarten, an 88-seat open air beer bar on the 9th floor rooftop of the hotel.
Opening date is set for Friday, May 15. The space will feature 16 draft lines, and a number of German bottles like Spaten Optimator doppelbock, Weinhenstephaner hefeweizen, Kostrizer Schwarzbier, and Belgian Trappist ales, sours and lambics.
The culinary menu is also looking to Germany for inspiration, and chef Dennis Marron (adding to his duties as head chef at the The Commoner, Hotel Monaco’s adjacent restaurant), has created a menu filled with German staples. Currywurst, giant pretzels, sauerbraten and pickles will all be ordered from a small fleet of food carts that will move throughout the space.
The bar will be open at 4:00 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, and at noon on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to the city views, revelers can also enjoy a number of pub games, like garden chess and cornhole.
They’ll have more information on their website.
