Just in case you’re in need of the junkiest of junk food today, these restaurants have got you covered.
Benny Fierro’s
Want a slice of pizza as big as your head? You’ve come to the right place. This East Carson Street institution serves pizza by the slice (for only $5) and whole pies, which can easily feed at least six people. And, they’re open until midnight for those late-night cravings. Benny Fierro’s (1906 East Carson Street)
Burgh’ers
Okay, you know the burgers at Burgh’ers new location in Lawrenceville are some of the best in the city, but have you tried their pickle-brined fried chicken sandwich? It’s the best. The. Best. And we don’t take fried chicken sandwiches lightly. Get it with some of their famous Mac & Cheese, and you’ll be hard-pressed to finish your meal, no matter how hungry you happen to be. Burgh’ers (3601 Butler Street)
The Abbey on Butler
Tonight only, The Abbey on Butler is hosting a picnic-inspired night, pairing beer and Deviled Eggs…. Yep, beer and Deviled Eggs. They’ll have six different unique Deviled Eggs, paired up with six summer-friendly craft brews. Visit the event page for more information. The Abbey on Butler (4635 Butler Street)
Atria’s
Atria’s might not be the first place you think about when looking for the junkiest junk food in town, but they have one dish that definitely qualifies at ‘munchies-worthy’: their ‘Famous Pot Roast Nachos.’ Need proof? Just look to our writer Madeline Quigley, who says that they “have been on my cheat list for literally my entire life.” Atria’s (various locations)
Row House Cinema
Not technically a restaurant, but there will be popcorn! Row House Cinema in Lawrenceville is teaming up with SweetWater Brewing Company for a super-special screening tonight of Half Baked. They’ll be serving SweetWater 420 Extra Pal Ale on draft, and offering two different screenings: one at 4:20 p.m., and one at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $7. Visit the event page for more information. Row House Cinema (4115 Butler Street)
El Burro
You’ll never go wrong with ordering a burrito at El Burro Comedor. First of all, they’re huge. Second of all… they’re insanely good. We’re partial to the Carne Asada (extra guac, if you please), but people go crazy for their served-all-day breakfast burrito, stuffed with scrambled eggs, French fries, cheese and pico de gallo. El Burro (various locations)
Franktuary
Hello, hot dogs. And poutine. And corn dogs. Really, everything that you eat at Franktuary is going to be some of the best best snack food you’ve ever had. Not only can you top your hot dog with any of their ‘Signature Style’ toppings (like the Buffalo, with Bleu cheese dressing, wing sauce and celery, or the Pittsburgh, with vinegar slaw, Miller’s Mustard sour cream and a potato and cheese pierogi), but now, you can also top your fries, too. Franktuary (various locations)
Hough’s
Doughnuts and beer – if there’s a better combination out there, we don’t know what it is. Today, Hough’s is hosting a little doughnut-decorating party at the taproom, with doughnuts fried fresh, and all of the toppings that you need – from candies and cookies to cereal and bacon – to cover them. They’re also tapping Lagunita’s Waldo at 4:00 p.m. For more information, visit the event page. Hough’s (563 Greenfield Avenue)
The Original Hot Dog Shop
It’s the original for a reason. The ‘small’ fries at the O are large enough for a crowd (they’re made with two pounds of potatoes!), but trust us – you won’t want to share them. Especially if you eat them the way they’re intended, loaded with salt and malt vinegar. The Original Hot Dog Shop (3901 Forbes Avenue)
Burgatory
Sometimes, you just need something sweet. And that’s where Burgatory comes in, with their ever-changing list of decadent, candy-laden milkshakes, like Salted Nutella Crunch, Campfire S’mores, and Grand-Dad’s Secret, spiked with Old Grand-Dad bourbon. Burgatory (various locations)
Primanti’s
Come on, it’s a classic. And they’re open and they’re open 24 hours a day in the Strip District. Primanti Brothers (various locations)
